Post it note’s adventure:
This animation is about a group of post it notes who are trying to find a place for them to spread out, as each post it has a piece of a picture which they all form at the end of the animation. They also encounter the 'desk beast', who does get in the way of the post it notes at one point.
This was my first stop motion, only using After Effects to form the first ever sequence-based animation, as well as adding some credits at the end of the animation. As the first stop motion animation, this animation I thought was a good start towards stop motion, and I also consider this to be not only the best stop motion animation I've done but the best animation within the first year of college. Sequencing images not only has worked here but it’s a skill which has been useful in the future. Even the more important aspects of stop motion have worked such as the movement of the characters and the consistent lighting. However, feedback has stated that this animation did lack the 12 principles of animation and the story and adventure was a bit minimal, there were more obstacles these post it notes encountered, so if I had time, I would have been able to apply those scenes as well as the final ones in this animation.
Regardless, despite not being a fan of stop motion, I do admire the skill I have applied here, and even the ending scene is one of my favourite scenes within my entire work, even the post it note assets are still with me, and I even have ideas to apply them, such as a potential crossover involving some of my animations.
This animation was given a month to complete, and it gave me enough time to perform all the scenes while putting them in a sequence once the animating was done. I did have a problem where all my stop motion frames had a file name problem, and so naming all the frames in order is where it did take quite some time, and it was one reason why the other scenes for this animation didn't make it. There are sites and even Adobe softwares which can help with file name problems like this, sadly I didn't know this back then. It took two weeks to animate, a couple of days to animate all the files and the remaining week was used to generate the sequence.
