Pixel vs Ragefire:
It is about Pixel (the blue character) who is aiming to stop Ragefire (the skull head character) who is trying to transform the land into a land based on his vision by using a spell, during the film, Ragefire puts the spell aside and they both fight, which results in Pixel succeeding and returning the land back to normal.
This was my first ever animation, only consisting of normal After Effects techniques such as move, rotate and opacity while also using the puppet tool heavily, plus some music and audio which feedback stated were the better parts of the animation. Even the use of music and sound effects has been a factor I have always been successful with according to feedback surrounding other projects. After Effects was mainly used, except the assets were made using Adobe Illustrator, one type of software which I have only used a couple of times throughout my lifetime.
Personally, not only would I consider this the worst animation I've made but even the worst college assignment, period, I have made written work better than this. Because of my slow animation skills and having to make this assessed piece of work shortly after a term’s worth of lessons, I have been very disappointed with it ever since. The main problem is that I tried to create a concept which was too much for someone that didn't have a lot of animation skills at the time, something to consider for any early animator. While it’s a lower quality animation, I would consider it an okay starting point, it still succeeds in audio editing and some identity establishment which has been carried through since, such as going for a style which is bold a simple. As you look at my other animations, I do have more of a positive outlook of those animations compared to this animation.
Most of my college projects (for when making animations) were often given a month to complete, I did use the first week to generate my assets and applied some animation, the second week is where all the animation was completed and then the final week is where the sounds were all applied alongside checking the animation's keyframes and performing the final render. As this was my first animation, the use of the time I had is what I also consider to be a strong part of this animation, knowing how to organise my time, a trait which I have retained ever since, providing yourself time and organisation is a very important trait to have as an animator.
